The MRKD Academy was founded to provide local, affordable, safe, comprehensive Self Defence and Fitness training for all ages in the East Midlands.

Sensei Mark Rotherham - 4th Dan

Founder and Head Instructor Sensei Mark Rotherham is the driving force behind Maximum Response Karate Defence. Mark is a 4th Dan Black Belt in Wado Ryu and a 2nd Dan Black Belt in Allstyle-Jitsu-System.

Fitness Training

Not only is Karate good for Self Defence but it is also a great way to gain a higher level of fitness and become more confident.

Locks & Blocks

As well as traditional karate strikes we teach many more locks, blocks and pressure points strikes. Taking the best from many different styles and incorporating them into a system that works for everyone.
